The master homeowners association in Menifee, CA, faced ongoing challenges with their decorative light pole base covers, which were originally made from aluminum. Due to Menifee's climate, the metal covers were prone to corrosion caused by moisture from occasional rainfall and periods of high humidity. Additionally, the community’s exposure to intense sunlight and high temperatures led to UV degradation, causing the paint on the metal surfaces to fade, crack, and peel over time. The daily temperature fluctuations in the region further stressed the aluminum, resulting in warping and paint failures. These environmental factors necessitated constant maintenance to preserve the desired aesthetic for the community.

To address these issues, we designed custom light pole base covers using LLDPE resin material. Unlike traditional metal, LLDPE resin is highly resistant to corrosion, eliminating concerns about moisture intrusion and rust. The color-through nature of the resin means the covers do not rely on a thin paint layer, so they withstand UV exposure without fading, cracking, or peeling. Additionally, LLDPE resin is impervious to temperature fluctuations, ensuring the covers remain stable and intact regardless of Menifee's varying weather conditions. Any scratches or abrasions on the color-through material are inconspicuous, helping the covers maintain their aesthetic appearance for the long term without the need for frequent maintenance or replacement.

This solution provided the Menifee community with a durable and visually appealing upgrade, addressing all the environmental challenges posed by their climate while reducing maintenance efforts and costs.
