The master homeowners association in Menifee, CA, faced persistent challenges with their decorative light pole base covers, originally made from aluminum. Menifee’s semi-arid climate brings intense sunlight, high temperatures, and significant daily temperature fluctuations, all of which take a toll on the metal covers. Prolonged UV exposure caused the painted surfaces to fade, crack, and peel, while the extreme heat contributed to thermal expansion and contraction, leading to warping and accelerated deterioration. Occasional rainfall and morning condensation also played a role in minor corrosion over time. These environmental stressors resulted in frequent maintenance to preserve the community’s aesthetic.

To address these issues, we designed custom light pole base covers using LLDPE resin. Unlike metal, LLDPE resin is highly resistant to UV damage, eliminating concerns about fading, cracking, or peeling. The color-through material ensures long-lasting vibrancy without the need for paint, and its stability in fluctuating temperatures prevents warping or structural weakening. Additionally, LLDPE resin does not corrode when exposed to occasional moisture, ensuring long-term durability. Any minor abrasions are inconspicuous, allowing the covers to maintain their polished appearance without frequent upkeep.

This solution provided the Menifee community with a durable, visually appealing upgrade that withstands the region’s harsh climate while significantly reducing maintenance efforts and costs.
