Installation Information
As part of the People St initiative by the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT), Sunset Triangle Plaza, the program's first pilot project, was introduced in 2012. The street transformed into a safe place for pedestrians and cyclists to enjoy outdoor space, using simple materials like paint, planters, and movable outdoor furniture.
TerraCast® planters were a perfect solution for LADOT because of the durable and lightweight LLDPE resin material. They outline the border of the pedestrian plaza, working as a barrier element. Our planters allowed flexibility in the installation and enabled a multi-use public space for events held by the local community. The project was a huge success and remains in place today despite the initial plan being a one-year installation.
